Our Mission

Our Mission is to bring more balance to the life of our clients – both human and canine.

Our Core Values

WE LOVE SIMPLICITY

The world is complicated, people are complicated, dogs are not. Food/water, safe territory, clarity around where they stand and what they can or can’t do, exercise (mental & physical) and play & affection paint pretty much a complete picture. We focus on what is missing for your dog and work with its natural instincts instead of using gadgets and gizmos.

We practice honesty

We tell you what we know and what we don’t know. We tell you how we see things. We might even tell you what you do not want to hear. In our experience real change can only occur if we acknowledge where we are. And while we are it. Here is something you might not want to hear:  You will have to change your behavior in order to change that of your dog.

We hold up integrity

Integrity has to do with being whole, with all aspects working together and thus balancing each other.  This is reflected in our mission and when we work with you and your dog. When learning happens strength and weaknesses become more balanced – in people and dogs. We all can learn much form each other yet everyone has to contribute.

dog behaviourist auckland Bastian

My name is Bastian Groiss, a 38 year old German, with some Southern European influences a few generations back. I came to New Zealand in 2007 and launched TheK9Way in 2012. After reading “The Dog Listener” I could not sit idle. Once I realized all the things I had done wrong with dogs I had to act. And act I did! Many hundreds of dogs and owners I had the honor to work with. Along the way I learned so much from both people and dogs. Often I am not sure if the work I do is that of a Dog Trainer, a Dog Behaviourist, a Dog Whisperer or a Psychologist. It feels like it is a blend of all the above and it is a privilege to change lives – human and canine.

When I am not involved with the 4-legged-ones I

  • can be be found in nature, sitting on a surf board or hiking through the bush,
  • am the protaganist behind HeartCore Furniture and
  • often find myself on a meditation cushion or contemplating life as a friend put it.
  • And I am a bit of a Masterchef addict, which means I love cooking and food!
